Camino de Santiago 2013

Well well well… our 6th camino! (5th to Santiago)… little did we know back in 2007, when the challenge abroad was being organised, that this one was going to be so popular. Our lovely pilgrims cleared over €4′000 in profit. We cannot express our gratitude to everyone involved – from the actual pilgrims (Anthony, Cora, Pauline, Loimar, Thomas, Rhona, Frances and Sharon) the bag-packers who supported them in their efforts, to everyone who attended all the events or supported them one way or another. You are all absolutely amazing. THANK YOU.

July 2013

Friends Day & Dinner at the Troc

July came and went with two amazing events: Our yearly Friends’ day and a fantastic dinner night at the legendary Trocadero in Ranelagh.  Both events so different, yet the same feel: friends enjoying a fantastic time out with and supporting a great cause.

Friends Day was held in the  Terenure Rugby Club and was the 1st time we held it during the day time. This helped us having some children enjoying a time out, a great day, some “mates” (argentinean tea & friends :) ) and a fantastic pinata!

Dinner at the Troc was organised as part of a fundraiser for the Camino 2013, by one of our pilgrims – Frances Jones… and all we can say is WOW! What a great idea, great crowd, fantastic food and amazing raffle prizes. Thank you to all involved in this event and here’s hoping to make this one a yearly tradition!

June 2013

Swizzle Sizzle Swing Summer Sensation, 22 – 23 June 2013 What was is it all about?  The Swing Dance community in Ireland, supported by generous international teachers Joseph Sewell & Charlotte Middlemass of Jiveswing Uk, created a fantastic weekend with all proceeds going to support K.I.D.S.   ‘Shine a Light on our Star’s’ for the Dublin 1 project.  A weekend of workshops and a Saturday night party with Joseph Sewell and Charlotte Middlemass providing their teaching skills for free meant that all the money raised went to the project.  This exclusive weekend sold out with couples taking full weekend passes & Sunday Solo Sessions and dancing the night away at the Saturday night social.

The organizing committee Chris, Amy, Paola & Keith dis a fantastic job and the weekend was  ‘A SENSTAIONAL SUCCESS’ …this was their words of thanks to all who made it the succcess it was:  ‘A hundred thousand thank you’s to all of you that made the Swizzle Sizzle Swing Summer Sensation workshop weekend and social night such a sensational success. SO how much was raised? From donations from dancers who could not go, from dancers who paid for places and knew they would not be able to attend the full event, from dancers who attended the dance workshops for the full weekend, from the Sunday session, for all those who attended the Saturday night social, from the parents of the performing children who bought tickets to the event, for the raffle ticket buyers, from those who just gave a ‘few bob’ to add to the pot – all your contributions raised – drum roll please:  €2,000. We are over the moon with the result – thank you!.

Flora Women’s mini marathon Monday 5th of June – Thank you All Who did it for K.I.D.S.

2013 was our 5th year participating in this event. 2013 saw a whole new group of ladies do it for K.I.D.S.  The amazing group of ladies ran / jogged / walked it for us.  Some of the photo’s were updated on our Facebook page and we will be sure to ask all the lovely ladies to join us again next year.

We are always looking for lovely ladies to beat the record of funds raised so why not join us in 2014? Please sign up at and then contact Flo ( to get a pack sent your way.

March 2013 – Third Pin Day at the National College of Ireland

On the 28th and 29th of March of 2013 at the NCI campus in Dublin, the students held our 3rd annual Pin Day.

All money raised in this event was raised to support our first Third Level Student grant receipient: Lorena Nunez in her studies in the University to become a Social Worker.

As we always say, every help you can give us counts a lot.  To our amazement, this year, the amazing gang (Conor, Grace, Emma… and more!) raised a massive €1′000 to support her! We are in so much shock and so grateful for all your support.

Lorena is setting up a Facebook page to keep us updated on her adventures through Uni. Please take a minute to have a look at it:

Thank you all!

Lindy hop-at-the-top

Keith, Jive Swing and the good people and dancers in Southend and Crewe raised a whooping €700 by climbing up the mountain and doing a Lindy Hop at the Top! These funds are to be used in a music, arts and drama after school workshop from March 2013.  Thank you all for this awesomeness!

Laugh in aid of K.I.D.S.

Friday 26th of August was the date. This year’s Comedy night was special for two reasons: It was a Father Ted Special and one of K.I.D.S.’ most successful fundraisers: Comedy Night.

The Laughter Launge’s Infamous Father Ted Special was back this August packed full of our favourite Father Ted characters… Go on… Go on… Go on… Go on… GO ON!!

FRIENDS DAY – 4th year in a row!

This is most certainly the most popular event we ran so far. Every year we manage to surpass it! Well, this time we know for sure was LOUDER! We had such a great time with the “usual suspects”, new faces and the unbelievable joy and support of a lovely brazilian group. We loved them! Also, the amazing talent of Ms Nina Antonioli who delighted us with her voice and songs. Thank you all for making this one the best night! You can see photos in our Facebook page:

We are still doing these walks, as part of keeping in touch with the walkers and as well to continue to grow our strength for next year’s one. So keep an eye on our Current events and our Santiago page for more info.

Yet an other set of two volunteers – the lovelies Elaine and Anne – made us keep on laughing. An other comedy night in the Laughter Lounge was held after the amazing success of the last one. This one will took place on the 31st of March.
